Trevi Taiwan was subcontracted for the installation of the 2,750 plus piles for sections 207 and 208. These piles were 1.8 m by 45 m with a total volume of roughly 425,000 m3. The soil conditions consisted of layers of silty sands and silty sands mixed with gravel and cobbles.
KB’s SlurryPro CDP system was chosen for the job after load tests versus temporary oscillated casing yielded much better results with the SlurryPro CDP system. Throughout the project the KB system presented no issues to the contractor and brought about notable savings in concrete as over breaks were minimal.
